Travel Day: ATL➡️LAX➡️Kona, Hawaii!

Wet Pants and The Line of Shame

Though I am a frequent traveler, I am constantly reminded that no matter how carefully you plan, you’ve got to be able to roll with the changes. Today started out in Atlanta at the home of our lovely Aunt Nancy, who housed us before our early flight to LAX. Following an airport spill yesterday involving my only pair of jeans for the trip, I did some laundry at her house last night, carefully switching the items over to the dryer and starting it before we went to bed. Fast forward to morning, and as I’m dressing (I always wear layers and my “heavier” clothes in the airport to save suitcase space) I retrieve my jeans to find- yep- they are still damp. I spent a few hours yesterday in wet pants at the airport (see spillage incident above), so I figured I could do it again. So, we showed up at ATL on a Thursday morning to find it was PACKED. Long wait even with TSA pre check and Real Id (love these time savers!), only to find that security screening had flagged almost every single bag in the line ahead of (and behind us). No idea what was going on, but they were looking for something that they didn’t seem to be finding. The poor beleaguered bag screener had to individually check every bag, so the line to get through was awful. Usually if our carry-on bag gets screened individually and we have to go wait in the separate area, Rob and I call it the “Line of Shame”. So, I stood in wet pants at the Line of Shame this morning thinking about my life choices, but still deciding I am most fortunate to be exactly where I am today!! 😂❤️

LAX Is a Whole Vibe

Los Angeles never disappoints in terms of the “interesting sights”, sometimes even when you get on the plane to go there. Guess who I was seated next to on the flight to LA? Turns out he’s a sweet young man on his way to a graphic design event. Not sure what his friend Felixian (the fox head) is doing at the event, but it made for a non-dull ride!

My seatmate to LA!

Knowing we’d be traveling a bunch this year, Rob and I upgraded to the AmEx reserve card so that we could get Delta Club benefits at the airports. That upgrade has paid for itself already in terms of free food and drinks, clean restrooms (with no lines), and a chill place to wait for planes. LAX has upped the ante by also having a taco bar and DJ porch in their Delta Club… yes please!!

Ole!
Last leg of the day

Hawaii- At Last!

After a second flight of over 5.5 hours, we have arrived in paradise! It was only 6 p.m. local time when we arrived (midnight back home), but we had been going since 6:30 a.m. so we are wiped out! Thanks to Delta for our smooth, on-time flights and Comfort plus upgrades! Loved the open air arrival gates and bag claim at the Kona airport. We are now in our Uber to our hotel, and plan to grab a bite there and then trust fall straight into bed! So glad to be here! Thanks for adventuring with us !
