Days 5 & 6 on the Solstice: Sea, Sea, and More Sea

Day 5

So much to do onboard here, and not one bit of it is necessary for anything but enjoyment. That makes my heart so happy! We are taking full advantage of all this fun ship has to offer. This morning I again met up with the Hawaiian ambassadors, this time for their bracelet making class. I had previously made a kukui nut bracelet at our resort in Kona, and this time we made one from bamboo fronds and ribbon. No picture of the finished product yet because I ran out of time and ribbon before finishing, but if I do, I will be sure to post a picture. The bracelets were so cute!

Next up was a slot tournament in the casino! I have always wanted to try one on previous cruises or in Vegas, so I finally decided to give it a try. It’s silly, really… basically you and a group of others sit at slot machines that are pre-set for the tournament and when the timer starts, you press the play button on your machine as fast as you can and whoever scores the most points/wins on their machine in the set time period gets a prize. There is an entry fee to play, but for this one the winner got $500. So mostly, this is a no skill, pure luck of the machines situation, but it was fun. I made it to the final round (but didn’t win), and I learned it is possible to get an arm ache from pressing slot machine buttons continuously for three-minute stretches. 😂 Rob was my best (and only) very loud cheerleader.

Something cool I noticed on my phone today- in yesterday’s post I put a screenshot of our weather on my phone app. Today I took another screenshot of the weather, but noticed our location in the app had changed from the North Pacific Ocean to the South Pacific Ocean since we crossed the equator. It makes sense, or course, but I just felt like that was very neat.

After the tournament we spent the rest of the day reading, snacking (might need a new wardrobe when we hit Australia 😂), watching the movie F1 with Brad Pitt in the theater onboard, and going to another “adult” game show called “Majority Rules.” This show had ship staff asking the whole audience to form teams and write down their answers to some (risqué) questions, and then whatever answer was given the most scored a point for each team that picked it. It was very funny!

Day 6

Slept in late today, which was lovely, having fully acclimated to our time zone out here and being back to our “usual” selves of staying up late, and sleeping late whenever we can. We had lunch in the dining room and then headed off to some activities. Rob started at the gym, while I headed to a “dot art” class. I will preface this with the statement that I am not an artist, nor have I played one in tv, and this was an excellent reminder why I was better suited to an office job 😝. I am posting a picture of my “masterpiece” below… copyright pending. 🤣😭

Rob and I reconnected poolside and spent the afternoon listening to tunes, playing pool games, and reading. It was cloudy and really windy today!

Ended our night with dinner in their specialty Italian restaurant (yum!), some more shows , and and early-ish bedtime so we can rise and shine early tomorrow when we arrive in Papeete, French Polynesia! It’s our first time in Tahiti, and we are so excited!

Thanks for adventuring with us!
