Freycinet National Park
After an early breakfast in Bicheno, our tour departed for the 45 minute ride out to the βpostcard perfectβ Freycinet National Park. It was a gorgeous, sunny day with temps in the 50s- finally! Perfection for hiking.
Cape Tourville
Our first walk of the day was a short and scenic overlook of the lighthouse and ocean. We didnβt spot any whales, but what we did see was gorgeous!!

Wineglass Bay
The longer hike today took us up (and down) the mountain to the Wineglass Bay overview. Wineglass Bay has a perfect crescent-shaped white sand beach. It is possible to hike down to the beach from the lookout area, but there are over 1000 stairs to get there (and 1000 more to get back!)β¦ no thanks. π The overview sits at about 720 feet above sea level and has nice views of the bay and surrounding mountains.

Honeymoon Bay
Our last stop in Freycinet was a hike down to Honeymoon Bay, during which a kangaroo hopped by! Once we reached the bay on our lovely, sunny day, I was brave enough to swim in the water (which was actually a decent 75 degrees), along with a fellow tour friend. I didnβt dunk all the way down, but I did go in long enough to have numb legs!

End of the Tour
Our tour today ended with our crew of 21 having a drink together at the lodge in Freycinet, followed by ice cream in Coleβs Bay. We hit a few pretty rest stops on the drive back to Hobart, as well. It was a great ending for a great tour full of lovely people. We enjoyed meeting this crew!

Swansea:

As we reached Hobart, it was a sad farewell to the people in our group who we have really enjoyed, but we are all off to new adventures. Traveling with other world travelers is always such fun, as everybody has amazing tales to tell, and gives me new ideas for my eternally increasing bucket list. We picked up our rental car from the Hobart airport and made a quick mall run to get me a new iPhone screen protector (cracked mine on a hike!), then headed out to our cute little air bnb in a great location near the harbor. The hosts here had stocked our whole rental with every supply we might need, including soaps, beers, chips, snacks, eggs, bread, soup, etc. It was a lovely surprise after a tiring week. Our Sydney Air Bnb was also well stocked, so we are impressed with Aussie hospitality!! We have two more nights in Hobart with no real plans, so looking forward to a bit of a lazy day tomorrow. Thanks for adventuring with us!
