Beach Day 12/18

As the temperature in Melbourne crept up toward 100 degrees Fahrenheit today, we decided today would be a good day to hit the beach and take a swim. So, this morning we, along with about 30,000 of our closest acquaintances, hit the tram and headed to St. Kilda Beach.

In distance it is only just over 2.5 miles from our place to the beach, but in practice it was pretty brutal. After a 30 minute, standing-room only tram ride glued next to a boat ton of sweating, swearing teenagers and overheated wannabe-be beachgoers, we finally made it to lovely St Kilda Beach. We spent a great afternoon swimming, sunning, reading, and walking the beach and pier areas. St. Kilda’s also has it’s own colony of penguins that nest there at night!

The beach has great views of the city as you can see from the pictures. In other excitement, I got randomly attacked by a bird today that swooped down, landed on my head, and tried to peck at me before my very inelegant freakout scared him/her off. No idea why it went for me or what happened (I was just walking down a sidewalk minding my business), but it gave me a good scare, and then a laugh. We ended our beach day at a Greek restaurant on the water where we ate our weight in saganaki and prepared ourselves for the overcrowded tram ride back to the city.

Cheese = ❤️❤️

No more to report for today. Tonight’s plans involve our sofa and a few more episodes of Stranger Things. 😂 Thanks for adventuring with us!
