Celebrity Summit First Port of Call: Georgetown, Grand Cayman

It’s been a beautiful three days since we last blogged, and we have been taking advantage of alllll the food and fabulousness that cruise life has to offer. We have had perfect, sunny weather with temps generally in the 70s with a cool breeze, or, in other words, our idea of perfection. The temps have also been paired with some spectacular sunsets, so we are feeling pretty darn lucky.

Ship Activities

We do what I think is a pretty good job of striking the balance between being both “relaxers”’and “joiners” when we are on a cruise ship. When we were not lounging in the sun ensuring our dermatologist’s kids go to the college of their choice, we could usually be found at one of the many shipboard activities. These have included attending some really good “port talks” to tell us more in-depth information about the cities and countries we will be visiting, some wasted time (but only a little money) lost in the casino, some shopping (which loses it’s allure when you live in a suitcase and storage unit! ), exploring the ship, a few Captain’s club events, seeing shows, and dancing at the silent disco and wherever else I can talk Rob into it.

Food and Drinks

And, of course, the other thing we’ve been doing on this ship probably goes without saying. We need to be dancing and walking the ship’s track about 50x more than we already are to combat all this lovely food and drink!

New Friends

We’ve also met some really nice people that we have enjoyed taking to, although once again we are some of the “youngest old people” on the ship. 😂 We were delighted to find out that “Celebrity “ is not just the name of our cruise line, it is evidently also a promise. We have an actual celebrity on our ship!

Santa!!! I know him!!!

We see this guy every day, and every day he sports new Christmas and Hawaiian duds, usually with a Santa hat. What a riot. Now I can tell people I vacationed with Santa!

Statue Shenanigans – As Promised!

Don’t worry- the Rob you’ve come to know and love has not changed so dramatically that he can’t still delight his fans (and by that I mean me… once he starts I can’t stop laughing). He managed to find some lovely ship statues to interact with. Enjoy!

Georgetown, Grand Cayman

Being avid cruisers, this was our third time cruising to Grand Cayman, and we enjoyed it every bit as much as we have on previous visits. This time we signed up for an excursion that took us to Seven Mile Beach for a kayak and snorkeling trip. We kayaked down the beach to an area with a beautiful reef, and then spent about an hour snorkeling there before kayaking back. We learned that Grand Cayman claims to be the original home of the Mudslide drink, so we finished our time in Georgetown with a mudslide and conch fritters while overlooking the ocean. Dreamy!!

Tomorrow we will be in Cartagena, Colombia! It is a first visit for both of us, and I can’t wait! Everyone says we need at least two days to explore Cartagena, but we will do our best with the few hours we have. We have an excursion booked, and fun will be had! Thanks for adventuring with us!
